Privacy Policy
nxtbible does not collect personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your notes, highlights, bookmarks and settings stay on your own device.
This policy covers nxtbible, the Bible app for reading and comparing translations, in every form it is offered: the website at nxtbible.com, the web reader, and the nxtbible apps for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and iPad. nxtbible is made by Tymofii Matviiv, an independent developer (“we” below).
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. nxtbible has no sign-in, no user accounts, no analytics or crash-reporting services, no advertising, and no third-party tracking code.
We do not sell, rent or share data, because we do not have any to share.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in nxtbible is stored only on the device you create it on, and is never uploaded to us:
- Notes, highlights and bookmarks.
- Settings, such as your translation, text size and the passage you were reading.
- Translations you import into an app. They are converted and kept in the app's own storage on your device.
In the apps, this data is kept in the app's storage on your device. In a web browser, it is kept in that browser's storage for nxtbible.com. You can delete it at any time by removing the app, or by clearing the site's data in your browser. Notes can be exported as a Markdown file from the Notes page.
If your device backs up app data, for example with iCloud Backup, that backup is handled by your device's maker under its own privacy policy. We never receive it.
When nxtbible connects to the internet
- Reading on the website. The web reader downloads Bible text, cross-references and lexicon data from nxtbible.com. Like any web server, it records standard request information: your IP address, the page or file requested, the time, and your browser's user agent. These logs are used only to keep the site running and secure, are not combined with any other data, and are deleted automatically as they rotate.
- Checking for the latest version. The website and the desktop apps ask GitHub for the latest nxtbible release, to show the right download link or to offer an update. Downloads and updates also come from GitHub. GitHub receives your IP address for these requests, as described in the GitHub Privacy Statement. No information about you or your notes is sent.
- Apps work offline. Every translation, cross-reference and lexicon entry is included in the apps, so reading and searching never need a connection.
Links to other sites
The website links to GitHub for downloads and to Buy Me a Coffee for anyone who wants to support nxtbible. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply when you visit them.
Children
nxtbible does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. Everything nxtbible stores is on your device and under your control.
Changes to this policy
If nxtbible ever changes how it handles data, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the date at the top will change.
